Chana Masala is a popular spicy vegetarian dish in Indian dishes. It mainly contains chickpeas which is very healthy pulses and spicys. It is specialty for North Indian homes in breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
1 cup of chickpeas (kabuli chana) soaked overnight
1 tea bag or tsp tea leaves , tied in a muslin cloth (optional)
3 tablespoons oil
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 chopped Onion
1 large thinly sliced tomatoes
1 thinly sliced ginger
2 cloves of grated garlic
2-3 thinly sliced green chilies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin seeds powder
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp red chily powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp dried mango powder
finely chopped coriander for garnish
2 tbsp ghee
1 cup water
salt to taste
Method
1. Pressure cook the chickpeas with the tea bag for 3-4 whistles until they are boil.Discard the tea bag and drain it.
2. Heat the oil in a pan, add the asafoetida and cumin seeds and wait till crack the cumin seeds.
3. Add the onion, ginger,tomato and garlic.
4. Saute till the onion is golden brown.
5. Add chilli powder, amchur, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin seed powder,garam masala and salt and cook for 5 mins.
6. Add the chickpeas and cook for 15 mins till it mix well.
7. Serve Chana Masala with garnishing coriander leaves with roti, naan, bhature or rice.
