Gulab Jamuns Recipe


Gulab jamuns are popular Indian dessert and prepared very easily. It is very famous sweet dish and everybody like it.

Ingredients

1 cup non fat milk powder
1/4 cup all purpose flour (maida)
2 pinches baking soda
3 tbsp melted ghee
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 to 4 tbsp milk
1 cup light brown sugar
3 cup water
1/4 tsp cardamom powder (elaichi)
2 cup oil
1 tsp vanilla essence
a few saffron (kesar) strands (optional)
1 tablespoon sliced almonds and pistachio

Method

1. In a bowl, mix milk powder, flour and baking soda.
2. Add the butter and mix well and using both hands rub the mixture.
3. Add the milk to the ingredients. Knead for another 5 minutes.
4. Roll dough into small balls.
5. To prepare syrup, boil the brown sugar and 3 cups water
in a pot and cook for an half an hour over low medium temperature.
6. Add 2 cups oil to a small pot and fry the small balls until
they are brown.
7. Reheat the sugar water and add cardamom seed,saffron as soon as it begins to boil, add the balls and cook it for 15 minutes.
8. When the balls absorb the syrup, turn off the heat.
9. Remove the balls with slotted spoon. Stir the essence into
the syrup and pour the mixture over the balls.
10. Garnish with slices of almonds and pistachio and serve hot or cold.
