Aaloo Bonda (Bateta Vada) Recipe

Batata vada is one of the most popular snacks, which is a very tasty and spicy fast food dish.

Ingredients

2 cups bengal gram flour (besan)
3/4 lb. potatoes
3 chopped onions
3 green chillies
A small piece ginger
4 cloves garlic
1 tbsp lime Juice
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp pinch of soda-bi carb (baking soda)
1/4 tsp asafoetida
Sugar to taste
chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
1/2 cup water water
Oil for deep frying

Method

1. Cook potatoes into the Pressure cooker until soft and peel it and mash it
2. Blend the green chillies, garlic and ginger to a fine paste.
3. Mix together the potato, onions, ginger/garlic/chilli paste,coriander leaves, sugar, lime juice and salt to taste.
4. Heat a 1 tsp oil and add the mustard seeds and asafoetida.
5. add to the potato mixture and Mix it well.
6. Take another bowl and combine bengal gram flour, salt, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, baking soda, turmeric powder and little water in it, to make a thick batter.
7. Add a teaspoon of hot oil when making the batter.
8. Make a small ball of potato mixture, Dip each ball in the batter and deep fry till golden brown in color.
9. Serve hot with chutney/ketchup.
