Masala Khichdi Recipe

Masala Khichdi is traditionally dish, mix of all type of vegetable which you like most. Very Light to eat and enjoy most.

Ingredients

1 cup basmati rice
4 tbsp moong dal/green gram
2 finely chopped onions
2 finely chopped potatoes
1 finely peeled and chopped potatoes
5-10 curry leaves
1 tsp ginger & garlic paste
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1-2 crushed Cardamoms
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
2-3 Cloves
2 tbsp ghee
Salt to taste



Method

1. Mix the rice and lentils together in a bowl and wash them under running water and drain and soak in 3 cups of water and keep aside for 1 hour.
2. Heat half of ghee in pressure cooker.
3. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds once it crackles add asafoetida, curry leaves and saute for a while.
4. Add the onion and ginger-garlic paste till it turns brown then add chopped tomatoes,potatos and water and cook for 10 minutes.
5. Drain water from rice and dal, Turmeric powder, Chili powder, coriander leaves salt and rest of ghee add into cooker and cook for 5 mins.
6. Close the pressure cooker lid and give 3 whistles on medium gas flame.
7. After some time open the cooker and serve hot khichdi with cold curd or kadhi.
