Sev Tomato Recipe



Sev tomato is a Gujarati recipe with the tomatoes cooked in a tangy delicious gravy and then served topped with crunchy crispy spicy sev which is made from deep-fried gram flour paste.

Ingredients

2 cups chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1/2 tsp chopped ginger garlic paste
2-3 chopped green chillis
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 1/2 tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
1 tsp Jaggery
1 1/2 cups thick sev(namkin)
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
salt to taste

Method
1. Heat the oil, add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds when it crackles add asafoetida and stir 30 seconds.
2. Add the ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, green chillies, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seed powder, red chilli powder, Jaggery and salt and simmer for a while.
3. Cook on a medium flame till the tomatoes are done and jaggery melts completely.
4. At the time of serving, fill half of the serving bowl and garnish with the sev and chopped coriander leaves.
5. Serve hot with rotis, parathas, bhakhari, rice or khichdi.
