Veggie Falafel Recipe


Veggie Falafel is a very popular Lebanese recipe and used very frequently in the Middle East as a fast food, It is served as a sandwich.

Ingredients

For Tikki and Falafel :

1/2 cup boiled chickpeas
1 tsp ginger finely chopped
1 tsp green chilli finely chopped
1 tsp coriander chopped
1 onion cuts into slices
1 capsicum cuts into slices
1 cup cabbage/lettuce cuts into slices
1 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp all purpose flour(maida)
1 tbsp cornflour
2 tsp white pepper
1 pita bread
Salt to taste

For Garlic Sauce :

1 tsp oil
5 tbsp garlic chopped
5 tbsp tomato paste
salt to taste
black pepper to taste

For Tahini Sauce :

4 tbsp Sesame seeds
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
pepper to taste

Method

For Garlic Sauce :

1. Heat the oil into pan and add garlic along with tomato paste, salt and black pepper.
2. Cook for 5 mins and sauce is ready.

For Tahini Sauce :

1. Blend all the ingredients for Tahini Sauce and mix it well and sauce is ready.

For Tikki :

1. Combine bolied chickpeas, chopped ginger, green chilli, coriander, lemon juice, corn flour, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl.
2. Add maida and mix it well.
3. Divide the mixure into small balls and deep fry them.

For Falafel :

1. Run knife through the center of pita bread and stuff with cabbage/lettuce, onion slice, capsicum slice, tikki, tahini suace, garlic sauce.
2. Serve Falafel Sandwich.
