Jalebi Recipe


Jalebi

Jalebi is a melt-in-the-mouth snack item that can satisfy the taste buds of your loved ones, on special occasions i.e Diwali, Dashera. It is served as the Celebration Sweet of India specially with Fafda.

Ingredients

1 cup maida
1 tsp curd
1 pinch of soda
4 tsp bengal gram dal flour
1.5 cup sugar
few strands of saffron
few drops of food color
ghee

Method

1. Mix maida and curd and make soft batter and leave it for 24 hours. The batter sholud not be too thin.
2. Add bengal gram dal flour and soda. Fill the batter in a special jalebi glass having a hole at the bottom.
3. Heat the ghee in a frying pan, when it turns hot, make jalebies in circular shape you can use jalebi maker for making it, starting from outside and moving towards center. If the glass is full of batter, thick jalebies are formed while if it has less batter thin jalebies would be formed.
4. Make thick sugar syrup and put jalebies in it.
5. Let them soak in to the sugar syrup till another lot of fried jalebies ready.
6. Remove the first lot of jalebies from sugar syrup and keep the sugar syrup hot by keeping it on a slow flame and if it turns thick, add little water and make them thin.
